The utilities behind mythburn seem to be able to pull out the
subtitle stream and make them useful as a DVD subtitle, so it
has been done for some situations.

As for the documentation, much of the DVB subtitle stuff was
decoded with the libs found in ffmpeg/libavcodec etc, so it's
in there somewhere.
