Not started yet ;) so that's no defence for me yet!!!
I did actually start playing around the other day and got my Myth SVN up
and running (I'm on x86_64 but that happily doens't seem to be an issue
any more!) and had a peak at G2 stuff.
What first struck me was that there is no RSS module in G2 anymore so
that wasn't the best of starts!!!
I did find one on gallery-contrib at source forge but it only seemed to
generate RSS for images, not a heirarchical view of the whole gallery. I
didn't play with it much so it's entirely possible that it works fine.
The fact that WordPress etc. has a Gallery module that uses RSS is
certainly proof that it can work, but not sure if that's with the old
G1.4.4 RSS module....
Anyways, if I was to support G2 via the RSS module it would require
people to download and isntall it separately from the main installation,
so that's one argument for supporting it directly using the remote
protocol with is part of the core.
The only thing with the remote protocol is that it is specific, whereas
RSS is semi standard and could theoretically support more than just G2
in the future.
When I get a wee bit more time I'll think about it in more depth and
look at the RSS module more closely.
There is also a remoteprotocol module over at gallery-contrib with give
access to core+comments via XML-RPC which is another possibility. I
doubt that this module is any less specific to G2 than the core remote
itself, so unless it's significantly easier to use I doubt it'll get a
look in for this.
Just some of my musings along the way.
