There are lots of things you can do to contribute.

- read http://cvs.mythtv.org/trac/

- Documentation review - review official docs for mythtv, add to them,
translate them

- follow the various howtos for different distributions and give feedback to
the packagers and this list about any problems you encounter

- Build mythtv from svn and submit any bugs. Learn how to provide meaningful
backtraces from crashes to developers
