[mythtv] Can VBI data be used for commercial detection?

While I do think the developers have been doing a fabulous job with
what we now have for commercial detection, there are still times when
breaks don't get flagged.

I recall hearing many years ago that the VBI data sent by many
channels will change somehow when commercials are being broadcast. I
think it had something to do with timecode being present in the
programs, but not the commercials.

Of course, this is all very vague, and I wouldn't have the first idea
of where to look to figure out if this is feasible. I'm just
proposing this as another possible idea for the clever folks who came
up with the current commercial detection code.
