[mythtv] DVB lockup - a possible solution?

I was thinking about possibile solution to lockup in tuning a dvb channel
not broadcasting data (backend emits a "Couldn't read data from the capture
card in 15 seconds. Stopping." and frontend emits "Waited 14 seconds for
data to become available, aborting"). Unfortunately I cannot give away to my
parents a mythtv box if it can lockup.

Is it possible for the frontend to replay the latest buffer in ringbuffer
while waiting for card to read data? Doing this, the user was able to change
channel even if no data is read from the card.

I was unable to make this hack, is there somebody who can do it?
