Ok, applied, for the most part.  I've changed a number of things -- 
particularly filenames and locations.  I also changed the variable 
"canned=" to "canned:" and made it part of the search string.

Well, the idea is that your search is saved in the session, so clicking 
on the sort options, etc doesn't require adding the search parameters on 
the URL string.

Agreed.

I have no idea, other than doing a "cvs add" of the files, which I don't 
know if you can do without write access.  But I'm no cvs expert.

Also, in answer to your question about the google-style searches (since 
I've obviously moved to "canned:"), particular about your "hd:" patch, 
I'm still not entirely sure how it's all going to work.  I guess my 
eventual goal is to get them all put in that way ("hd:yes", 
"title:Food", etc), but for now I think I'll start with search terms 
only (no flags) in that format.
