Thanks for the reply Andrew,

You are in fact correct that I am using Gmail, and I know that their
threading is naive, but that was not the gist of what I was getting
at. I use Gmail filtering based on the subject (and automatic
Archiving) to distinguish between mythtv-dev and mythtv-commits quite
successfully. And my problem is not really with following threads on
mythtv-dev.

I think that the subject  line including the file(s) location will
improve the at a glance view  of the CVS commits in all POP3 clients.
That and the links to the diffs are important to me. After all, I
quite happy using Gmail to read the postings (and cross postings) on
the Blender mailing lists, that I gave as an example.
