[mythtv] Random blockiness that probably isn't CPU or PCI bus bandwidth-related

is really unfortunate. I'm becoming more and more convinced that a
simple serial transport protocol a la firewire or USB but with better
access to memory is the right way to go for these things, because
motherboard chipsets seem to act so differently (and unpredictably, in
lots of cases). I figured an Nforce2 board would be the best way to
go, but the HD-2000 seems fundamentally incompatible with it. Seems
like a waste to have to have an Intel 865 and a 3.2G P4/HT for a
backend that uses essentially zero CPU and only requires a fast
PCI<->memory link.

FWIW, it seems like an Opteron would be ideal for the types of things
a Myth backend does, but I don't know of anyone who's tried a monster
backend (at least 4 capture cards) on such an infrastructure. I could
do it if I felt like dismantling my desktop machine, which I don't.
Any takers?  :)

Cheers,
Kyle
