[mythtv] What can packagers/distro developers do to help thestability of 'released' version of MythTV?

Subversion uses the same paradigm and is unencumbered by strange
licensing.

Subversion's interfaces are probably not as developed as bitkeeper, but
if CVS is what's being used currently, I doubt the interface is much of
a deciding factor.
