Why don't you look at the dvb-linux documentation? There was support for analog
cards in the dvb-kernel 2.4, so I have a feeling you may be able to add support
for analog as well.. Ive mostly seen reference to it with DVB-C.. I don't see
the DVB driver as being a bad thing..

Why don't you just get a better antenna? If your signal is that questionable
you need to either use or not use it.. Coding in a fallback method would be a
complete pain..
