who to CC or if gossamer will thread this correctly, sorry...

Don't know much about the other options but if I were doing it I would 
use mvpmc/mediamvp as it is small and you can probably add a cap coupled 
spdif right to the amp - if you were to embed the thing inside (see: 
http://mvpmc.sourceforge.net/mvpmc_hardware_howto.html#s3 ).  I would do 
it but I also want a local 20x2 VFD (display) and can't easily fit that 
on the front of anything (see: 
http://mvpmc.sourceforge.net/mvpmc_hardware_howto.html#s7 ).

I would compromise if I could figure out how to use the VFD on my Sony 
amp - anyone know how to hack into the Sony's amp micro?
