Actually I don't think I conveyed the full horror :)

It doesn't appear to take keyboard input either for 15 seconds. If you
type a different channel number you don't get any feedback, it then
times out and changes channels, assuming you've entered a valid
number.

I'm not saying it's any worse than before, it's just not what I was
expecting. It's quite easy to end up with a hosed setup.
