I think so -- I was going to try this but hadn't yet, if you could look 
into it that would be great.  This page has some good info (go down to 
the "Optimizations" section):

Don't forget about the QT build itself; since it's a major part of 
Myth, it might benefit from more agressive optimization as well.  The 
default "macx-g++" conf file only has -Os set; turning on -faltivec and 
-mcpu=g4 might help there.
