[mythtv] IDEA: Accelerated playback of recordings with audio pitch adjustment?

As I was watching my recording of Farscape - Peacekeeper Wars late
last night, I had an idea that could really enhance MythTV - I wanted
to "hurry up and finish" the video since it was 2am, but I didn't want
to skip anything (but the commercials, of course)

I remembered reading about how certain studies had shown that voice
recordings of college lectures could be accelerated by at least 25%
and pitch adjusted back to normal and students were able to comprehend
just as well in 25% less time.

If MythTV were able to play back recordings 25% faster and pitch
adjust the Audio to normal, I could watch an hour of TV broadcast TV
in 30 minutes (1 hour minus 20 minutes of commercials minus 10 minutes
for 25% speedup).

I think I could enjoy many of my recorded shows at an accelerated pace
and this would allow for the following:

- accelerated learning for educational programming
- watch more shows in same time
- spend less time watching TV
- ability to "cram" video materials
- ability to adjust speed according to interest level (I remember
watching the entire movie "Krull" in fast forward (no sound) and the
action was still slow.

Technically, speeding up the playback is already part of mythtv.
Resampling the audio and pitch shifting it should eat some CPU, but
that wouldn't be a problem for most people's myth boxes.

Has this ever been discussed? Does anyone else find this idea interesting?
