Yes, it would.  In some themes, this might be preferable, since it can 
interfere with the readability of translucent menus.

Sliders that change the behavior of the arrow keys should always be 
hidden when the menu appears, but it's difficult to do that in the 
current implementation.  It would be nice to have a subclass-based 
slider implementation that wouldn't take so much special casing within 
tv_play.cpp; I have some ideas toward that end, but it'll be a while 
before it reaches the top of my to-do list.
