As Kevin said, the visible flag is nice if you don't want to delete the
channels completely.  Actually, I'm a little curious how your patch will
work  with the datadirect stuff.  But I guess it'll at least be handy
for when old channels are removed and new ones are added..  saves a trip
into mysql.
