Not sure what you mean by output a 16:9 signal - an anamorphic 16:9 signal 
is exactly the same resolution as a normal 4:3 signal, just that in 16:9 
mode the TV should squash the picture vertically to the right aspect.  
So long as you set the physical screen size to the right aspect in the X 
config it should just work nomatter what card you have.
