Not got any practical suggestions here, I'm afraid!

I definatly like this method. Not sure if F5/F6 the best keys to use, 
but I don't like the current PgUp/Dn thing as this should be for 
playlist nav in my opinion.

Yeah, I like option. I'd also quite like the ability to randomly extend 
the playlist from either the whole collection of a certain playlist. 
This would be good for parties etc, so you could just start with a blank 
playlist and it would select random songs for a while then someone could 
queue up a few of their favourites, and when they are done playing, it 
just goes on to randomly add more tracks.

I was planning on writing such a patch after I finish my Album Artist 
patch (http://colin.guthr.ie/myth/patches/album_artist.html), and an 
iRiver Sync patch, but this may be the kind of functionality you could 
include more easily when your tweaking in that area anyway? Obviously 
only if you think it a good idea...... ;)
