	OK, but that now breaks my compile, because you put
#error Need a default audio driver
in there (despite the fact that there was a default return NULL;)

	Do we really _need_ a default audio driver?
I was able to build and run the frontend without it.
(Not while trying to do anything that involved sound,
  of course, but I haven't written that part yet :-)
