[mythtv] Mac OS X can't connect to remote database

	mythfrontend.app can connect to a local MySQL database,
but when trying with an x86 Linux backend:

% mythfrontend.app/Contents/MacOS/mythfrontend
Qt: QApplication: Warning argv[0] ==
'mythfrontend.app/Contents/MacOS/mythfrontend' is relative.
In order to dispatch events correctly Mac OS X may require applications
to be run with the *full* path to the executable.
Unable to connect to database!
Driver error was [1/2003]:
QMYSQL3: Unable to connect
Database error was:
Can't connect to MySQL server on '143.238.2.191' (61)

couldn't open db
%

	What can I do to further debug this?

P.S. I have used this backend with x86 Linux frontends before,
      so all the usual gotchas are probably excempt.
