You can also diff the new files individually against /dev/null, and cat the 
output with that of CVS diff.  That's what I've been doing, since I gave up 
keeping two copies of the source.  Having to select the extra files manually 
also helps keep test files, parts of your build, etc, from wandering into 
your patch.
