These are two separate features that can both be used together.
It's not like you have to choose one or the other. If you set
preroll to "30", all shows will get a head start unless they are
back to back. If you gave and 8:00 show "1" for Start Early, the
recorder would actually start up at 7:58:30, a minute and a half
early.

So, keep the preroll that you like (to warm up the equipment
without affecting the schedule) and add a minute for Start Early
or End Late to the scheduled of the shows when you want to force
a scheduler conflict in situations like this.
