I'm getting this problem as well with CVS from a few days ago.
Restarting mysqld and/or mythbackend solves it (until it happens again).
I'm also getting a lot of these in the frontend log:
Error loading image file:
/usr/share/mythtv/themes/default/1076_20040409205900_20040409213000.nuv.png
Error loading image file:

(over and over and over) and this in the backend log:
File not found:

(also over and over and over) and some of these:
2004-04-13 19:28:22 MainServer::HandleAnnounce FileTransfer
2004-04-13 19:28:22 adding: localhost.localdomain as a remote file transfer

Perhaps it's in an infinite loop trying to load the preview image (not
recording) on the "watch recordings" screen and opening a connection
each try? Just a guess. That's an optional setting, no? I'll see what
happens if I shut it off.
