The filters will work just fine without the shell extensions.
I woudn't be surprised if win98 did something different than winme that
breaks the filter, I'll see if I can do some debuging on a win98 computer.

I have seen the explorer crashing on win9x/me too (works fine on winxp). I
did find one problem that can cause explorer to crash, but there migt be
more.

I'm developing the filter and shell extensions on a winxp computer so that’s
why there might be problems with win9x/me, but I'll try to make it work on
win9x/me too.
