I get no sign of OSD at all when I have the problem.  I'm running the 
following:
sys-libs/glibc-2.3.2-r8 built with nptl
sys-devel/gcc-3.3.2-r2 QMAKE_CXXFLAGS_RELEASE = -O3 -march=athlon-xp 
-fomit-frame-pointer
linux-2.6-test9
binutils-2.14.90.0.6

qt-3.1.2-r4
