[mythtv] mythtv tuner initialization

I have a Hauppauge 401 tv-fm-dbx card.  I'd like to use the fm tuner 
portion to timeshift my favorite radio programs (NPR) on my mythtv box. 
 
However it seems that mythtv does not (re)initialize the tuner after I use 
the radio.  If I use the "radio" program from Gerd Knorr, and subsequently 
try to watch live tv via mythtv, mythtv tunes to the radio station, not the TV 
station.  I get a blue screen with fm audio.  If I restart mythbackend then I 
can tune in to live tv, no problems. 
 
This might be an exclusive V4L device access issue, I don't know.  Is 
there a way to get mythbackend to re-initialize the tuner right before 
watching live tv/recording tv?  Anyone have a clue on how this problem 
can be solved?
