[mythtv] mythbackend not starting

I have the cvs for mythtv compiled and mythepg works fine, but when
I try to start mythtv I get:
	connecting to backend server: localhost:6543
	Could not connect to backend server

If I try to start mythbackend I get:
	No setting found for this machine's BackendServerIP.
	Please run setup on this machine and modify the first page
	of the general settings.

My general configuration was set up using the basic defaults:
	IP address for my system is 127.0.0.1
	Port the server runs on: 6543
	Port the server shows status on: 6544
	Master server IP address: 127.0.0.1
	Port the master server runs on: 6543

What is the process for getting the backend going so I can run
either the mythfrontend of just mythtv?

Did I miss something in the FAQ?

I didn't see anything about the backend in the docs directory.
