thanks. I actually managed to get quite far myself today using the same
kind of thing.

Actually, I'd quite like to use the KDevelop IDE because it looks nice
(tm) but I'm not a complete IDE sticker.

I've been using a mixture of KDevelop, (gnome) emacs and KDbg (to save
me from having to dust out that "man gdb" ;-).

Worked really well... once I worked out how to do a debug build. But
fortunately the excellent docs saved me there (many times).

Anyway, thanks for the tips (you too Michael). I agree, OpenSource is
great.
