Hi Isaac,

Included below is the capture of the output from mythfrontend.

---
bash-2.05b# mythfrontend
connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:6543
Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV
Input #0, mpeg, from 'rbuf://127.0.0.1:6543/mnt/store//ringbuf1.nuv':
  Stream #0.0: Video: mpegvideo, 480x480, 29.97 fps, 16000 kb/s
    Stream #0.1: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, 384 kb/s
    Opening OSS audio device '/dev/dsp'.
    Over/underscanning. V: 0.000000, H: 0.000000, XOff: 0, YOff: 0
    Using XV port 56
---

I did notice that it says "OSS audio device"... I'm using ALSA. Is this an
issue ????

Also it's probably time to move the discussion over to myth-devel, so I am
cc'ing that list and will continue the rest of this on that list. The
original email is included at the bottom for context.

Thanks to Kevin and Isaac for responding...

Cheers,
Achint

Hi Isaac,

For the frontend, the output for the audio device is set to /dev/dsp

For the backend, the audio device on the "Capture Card" configuration screen
is set to (None)....

I'll grab the output from the frontend and as soon as I get home and post it
to the myth list....

	Thanks

Cheers,
Achint

Hi,

I've installed a PVR-250 card into an ASUS pundit. I downloaded the
latest
driver files and got everything running.

I'd like to thank the developpers since this part was relatively
painless...

Capturing video and audio using cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg works
great....

I did run into some issues with setting up MythTV. Basically it does
not
produce any audio and after running the mythbackend and killing it, I can no
longer use the cat /dev/video0 trick to record audio.

Using test_ioctl -a before and after mythbackend, does not indicate
any
differences....

Questions:
(1) Is there any way to capture the card state other than test_ioctl -a ?
(2) When I run lspci -v, I see
---
00:0e.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc: Unknown device
0016 (rev 01)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc.: Unknown device 4009
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 10
        Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2
---
when according to the Myth FAQ I am supposed to see:
---
00:0c.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2
Encoder (rev 01)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc.: Unknown device 4801
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 11
        Memory at d0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M]
        Capabilities: <available only to root>
---

        Is the fact that I don't see " iTVC15 MPEG-2" an issue ? Do I need to
swap
the PCI slots ??? The weird part is that it works fine before I launch
mythbackend.

        Thanks in advance

Incase it's relavant, the machine is an ASUS pundit with a 2.4ghz CPU
and
1gig of RAM, running gentoo (2.4.20-gentoo-r5). I've checked on v4l2 support
and the patches listed in the readme files and the kernel is patched.

Cheers,
Achint
