Just tried that. Went back to using the OSS audio drivers agian (still
on my intel8x0 sound), recorded something, tried to play it back and
got "/dev/dsp in use" - so immeadiatly checked fuser -v /dev/dsp and it
showed nothing. Just to check, I did an fuser during a recording,
which showed mythbackend using /dev/dsp. Similarly, without being in
record mode, mplayer also couldn't access /dev/dsp, and once again,
fuser didn't report anything trying to access it.
I've been going round in circles for a week now with no luck. I think
tomorrow I definitly start stripping down PC's to swap soundcards
around.
