[mythtv] HELP! I'm so close! LIRC problem

I'm still trying to get the remote working. I have the IR receiver, it
just happens to be in an old laptop. So I'm trying to network the laptop
to the mythTV server. As far as I can tell, LIRC is doing it's job on
the laptop to pick up the signals. It's just I can't get lircd on the
mythTV server to communicate with the laptop. I can telnet to the laptop
on port 8765 and receive transmissions like:

0000000000142ebd 00 channelup hitachiremote
0000000000142ebd 01 channelup hitachiremote
0000000000142ebd 02 channelup hitachiremote
0000000000142ebd 00 channelup hitachiremote
0000000000144ebb 00 channeldown hitachiremote
0000000000144ebb 01 channeldown hitachiremote
0000000000144ebb 02 channeldown hitachiremote
0000000000149eb6 00 6 hitachiremote
0000000000149eb6 01 6 hitachiremote
0000000000149eb6 02 6 hitachiremote
0000000000171e8e 00 5 hitachiremote
0000000000171e8e 01 5 hitachiremote
000000000017ee81 00 1 hitachiremote
000000000017ee81 01 1 hitachiremote
000000000017ee81 02 1 hitachiremote
000000000017ee81 03 1 hitachiremote

Unfortunately, I haven't found much in the way of documentation for
LIRC's network properties. I'm using lircd --listen on the laptop and
lircd -c=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8765 on the server. I'm sure it's just
something wrong with my syntax. Help!
