[mythtv] couldn't open db

Hello!

I'm new to the list and mythtv. I am having the following problem on Debian 
3.0 stable:

mediabox:/export/software/src/mythtv-0.7/setup# ./setup 
couldn't open db
mediabox:/export/software/src/mythtv-0.7/setup# 

Everything else in the install process has gone well until the setup part. 
MySQL is running and the tables (mythconverg) are set up. Any suggestions?
