[mythtv] Problems with new mythtv install

as of the other day, mine was not printing error messages.  it was "halting".  
so i recompiled with debug symbols.  I haven't been back over to my house to 
gdb the new program.  but i'll post a backtrace tonight.  i'm going to have to 
SIGKILL it, then bt.
