[mythtv] mythbackend start problems

Has anyone had a problem with the mythbackend trying to connect to
randon ports?  I have the ports left blank in the
/usr/local/share/mythtv/backend....txt but some times it connects to
port 6345 and sometimes it tries to connect to port 0:0 (my x server). 
Any ideas why?  is there a cache somewhere?
