This is fun ;-).
The IR reciever plugs into the tuner card(!). The tuner card
is in the backend machine (by definition). The backend machine
is in the closet. -> Therefore, the IR reciever IS in the
closet... (think about it ;-)...
He wants the IR reciever near the frontend machine but that
would take a very long extention cord. If the IR receiver
could plug into the frontend machine, passing the data
around the network would be trivial but that isn't the issue.
