[mythtv] WinTV PVR-250 (hardware mpeg encoder)

So getting back to the original topic of this
discussion (and the part that is interesting to me)

Provided that v4l(v4l2?) compatible drivers were
available for this card, would supporting its hardware
encoding of mpg2 be:

A) Fairly trivial, like that of mjpeg
B) More complicated, along the lines of finding a good
mpg2 decoding library and integrating that
C) Really ugly
D) I'm way off base. It will never work.

The reason I ask is that I have the card and am going
to be writing drivers for it. I'm new to the driver
game, so it may take awhile. I'll will write the
driver regardless of mythtv support, but i definately
want to make sure the driver is written in such a way
that it works well with mythtv.

I know it's probably evident by looking at the MythTV
source (which i haven't checked out yet) but is there
a subset of the v4l spec that mythtv uses? (so i could
get a beta version out with minimal v4l support that
worked with mythtv)

Isaac feel free to lay into me if i'm being repetitive
:)

Thanks!
-kevin
