[mythtv] Is there a "buffering" or read ahead feature for viewing videos accross the network?

I am running MythTV .7 accross a 10 mbps homepna network. I know that
this is not really a feature of .7 but I am trying to prepare for .8
release. Disabled the scheduled recording and watch tv in the client
box so that it basically is a playback box using an exported nfs
directory from the main mythv server machine. Network bandwidth is
adequate for playback of 2500 video data rate and 41000 audio rate
video files. There is no choppiness. Rewinding is fast and fast
forward is ok on video files 1 hour or less. For movies 2 hours or
greater the fast forward is slow because the system is still trying to
fetch the data. You can rewind fast and forward at a fast rate up to
the point of the video you watched ( i guess there is some caching of
the data locally so that the video data does not have to be refetched
when you rewind. ) I dont know if it is possible to improve this or if
there is some solution already in the next release. It seems that if
there is a way to " download " the file locally and playback at a point
always behind the end of the download data , the problem will be
solved. And then discard the local copy or buffer when you switch to a
different recording and start the process again. Also I wonder if the
next release has the option to record audio at a lower 22050 rate. I
dont really see much difference in audio quality between 41000 and 22050
in my setup but a 22050 rate might be more network friendly. I prefer
HOmepna over the 10/100 cat5 because it is very convenient, cheap and
easy to setup and wireless 802.11b is too slow. Thanks
