Of course. The biggest of which is that I would need to customize at least
some parts of whatever was used, and to take mplayer as an example, I'm not
touching _anything_ with a 3,000 line main() function.
As it stands, I've got an extremely lightweight player, a file format that I
can add whatever I need to, and complete control over the code. None of
which are really doable by just calling some random external player.
