[mythtv] mythtv still locks up :(

Issue 1.  You are offering root access to anyone.  This is never good. 
I can see the fix command now rm -rf /

Issue 2.  You should try the LinuxPVRHardware mailing list
(http://www.higheriq.com) or a general sound mailing list.

Issue 3, 4, 5, 6 ... .  You are offering root access to anyone.  That is
a good way to get your system hosed.
