I have an Athlon 2100+, Asus A7V8X, WinTV PCI W/DBX, 512mb pc 2700 memory, and 
1500Mb Swap. When I record a program and watch a recording at the same time, 
top reports ~25-30% cpu utilization when doing both, and ~6-12% when just 
recording. The one thing that really causes a spike is is stoping playback, 
which always causes the CPU usage to shoot up to 99.9% for a few seconds.
