[mythtv] XMLTV not installing....

I have tried for the past 6 hours doing everything short of downloading all 
of CPAN and I can not seem to get this bugger installed.  Anyone have any 
idea?  I am running Debian stable 3.0rev1  For some god awful reason...  The 
Makefile.pl errors out with 4 test left to go..  so at test 49 it fails and 
all the rest after that do as well.  I am new to perl so I am at a loss...  
Scratching my head big time.  I have installed all the cpan lib that are 
recommended by the site and still nothing.  I must be doing something wrong. 
  ;-/  I know this isn't the xmltv mail list but I figure you all havea good 
grasp on it.  ;-p  Thanks for any advice.  BTW, yeah I know there are debs  
I just like to be dificult..  ;-)  Learn a lot by being difficult.  ;-)
