Why do you need another daemon when you have LCDd already?  Surely
this is the whole point of LCDd that it supports all the hardware and
all of the clients connect to the same daemon.

For example I use <plug> procmeter3 </plug> to show system statistics
on the LCD.  I have disabled the time display in MythTV because it
duplicates the information that I have already.

I look forward to the new LCD support in the next version.
