Posted this to the users forums but got no replys. Thinking I should have posted it here instead. Here goes:

I upgraded to CVS from 8/15 and have found that my recordings no longer have audio. In fact for the past several CVS upgradeds I sometimes start LiveTV and there is no auduo untill I change the channel once (up or down) and it comes right back in. But I have never had this new issue with no audio in recordings. I can set a manual 1 minute record while watching the channel but when the record starts audio drops out. No audio again unitll
the record finishes (then I have to change the channel once to regain sound again). I haven't changed/upgraded ivtv in several weeks so I dont think it's an issue there.
Thinking maybe it was a new CVS bug, I wiped out the CVS mythtv and grabbed the officeal release 0.11 and started over - still no difference. So last night I wiped that out again and grabbed last night's CVS, complied and installed it - still no change. Have not read that anyone else is having this problem. I have indeed been applying the .sql updates each time but it seems like a mythtv setting muting the card during a record. Anyone else run
into this or have an idea of what is going on? Pulling out what little hair I have left all weekend trying to figure out what is up. Ran backend and front end in screen sessions and even snagged some of dmesg - I see no problems and no line saying it was muting audio. Here's some details even though I dont see anything usefull listed:

Only odd looking entry in any of this is:
"Your soundcard is not reporting free space correctly.
Falling back to old method..."

But I have been seeing this with all versions of myth and it has never caused any problms before (I am using the cheap-o on-board audio codec of my SoyoDragon lite mobo).

I have had this box up and running (RH9 w/PVR-250 AthlonXP1700+ for months now and this is the first time that a simple upgrade to a new version has caused this problem. One thing of note however: I have Alsa installed but according to the frontend output, it is only using the OSS (is that supposed to be?). There is an ALSA patch listed in the dev list I may try this next to fix the recorded audio. Any help in this would be appreciated as I am quite stumped. It's nice to have audio in a recording :)

(can you believe that Adelphia now blocks incoming port 80?!?!? - it's one thing to not want us running websites but to block the port so we CAN'T <unless you get creative with the port #> really bugs me)
