The problem with the XBox is that you can't get Linux on it right now unless
you get a mod chip, which thanks to the actions of Microsoft aren't that
easy to come by.

TV out on a PC isn't so bad. Some cards are better than others. In any case
you're not going to notice the poor quality of TV out as much as the quality
of your captured video anyway. There are ways to make quiet PCs as well -
the PC I have built to go under the TV is barely audible from a few metres
away. With LIRC or similar and a bit of extra hardware you can have a
remote, too.
