[mythtv] tv channel tuning problem

I'm having a problem with tv tuning with mythtv and am looking for some 
pointers on where to look to try and resolve it.

Okay, Xawtv works great, other than the oddity that if I type in channel 45, 
I get 46.  This also shows up on Mythtv when I select a channel to record. I 
get the wrong show :-(

But that's not the main problem. All the channels are off, tuning wise, most 
of the colours are washed out and you get that sort of "fuzzy" mistuned look 
to each channel. In Xawtv I can modify the tuning on a per channel basis, is 
there anyway to pull this off in Mythtv?  

Also as above, is there a way to remap the channels that get tuned in 
relation to what the epg shows?  Or something simple like telling mythtv that 
when I say tape channel 45, actually tape 45-1.

I suspect this is a bttv driver issue, as I've seen similar behaviour (wrong 
channel) on my other mythtv machine.

My main myth box has an ATI TV Wonder while my test machine has an Avermedia 
TVPhone.
