[mythtv] Does the backend need X?

I'm trying to start mythbackend as a daemon. However, it
complains that it cannot connect to the X server until X
is started and access is granted. Does the backend still
need some X resources?

Also, it appears that the frontend no longer needs to
access the recorded files, only the backend reads and
writes files. However, bookmark files appear to be written
by the frontend. I think if this is changed the backend
could be run as a specific user (say, mythtv) then any
other user could run the frontend without causing any
permission problems. Is that correct?
