Well I installed a new kernel 2.4.20 and decided to upgrade alsa at the same
time.

I installed:

alsa-driver-0.9.0rc6
alsa-lib-0.9.0rc6
alsa-utils-0.9.0rc6

Sounds seems to work, however, aplay still doesn't work :-(

[root@marcus root]# aplay
aplay: main:462: audio open error: No such file or directory
[root@marcus root]# aplay /dev/dsp
aplay: main:462: audio open error: No such file or directory
[root@marcus root]#

Otoh, the btaudio stuff seems somewhat better. I get consistent info in
syslog:

Dec 16 19:40:00 marcus kernel: btaudio: Bt878 (rev 2) at 00:0d.1, irq: 10,
latency: 32, mmio: 0xe3104000
Dec 16 19:40:00 marcus kernel: btaudio: using card config "default"
Dec 16 19:40:00 marcus kernel: btaudio: registered device dsp3 [digital]
Dec 16 19:40:00 marcus kernel: btaudio: registered device dsp4 [analog]
Dec 16 19:40:00 marcus kernel: btaudio: registered device mixer2
Dec 16 19:40:00 marcus sound: Loading sound module (btaudio) succeeded

However, I've lost the bt878 mixer device (invalid mixer).

Xawtv run on the ati card still produces no audio output, as above, haven't
been able to test with aplay. Is there another app I can use to pull off the
same test as with aplay?

[root@marcus root]# aplay -l
aplay: device_list:190: no soundcards found...

Eeep, guess I need to load (/etc/modules.conf) the proper alsa drivers rather
than the kernel oss I was using before, I assume.

Other suggestions?
