Ok, before I didn't have access to the machine. Now I do. Here is more =
information. I don't think this is a sound problem. There are illegal =
instructions in both of these cases.
When I try to watch tv, I get a /dev/dsp busy error, then a Illegal =
Instruction.
When I try to watch a pre-recorded, I get:
Changing from None to WatchingPreRecorded
Invalid seektable
audio device cannot report buffer state accurately,
audio/video sync will be bad, continuing anyway
Using XV port 51
Illegal instruction
It sounds like this makes it past the audio problems anyway.... then =
terminates for another reason. I have strace output in both cases if =
anyone is interested.
Most people would just throw another audio card in the box, but I'm too =
lazy/poor/fill-in-the-blank. I have an extra card 1000 miles from here =
that I'll pick up over x-mas if this isn't resolved by the :)

Subject: [mythtv] /dev/dsp busy?
I just installed MythTV.
RH 8
Tuner: WinTV-GO
Sound: AD1816A
I can use xawtv to watch TV on my tuner just fine with sound. Whenver =
I try to watch TV with MythTV or watch a recorded movie (it seemed to =
record something... at least I can see the preview), I get an error =
similar to:
/dev/dsp busy
error opening audio
illegal instruction
Sorry, I don't have the full details of the message. I had it in =
another message that got rejected from the server, and I don't have =
access to the computer with MythTV right now.
Has anyone seen this before? Is this just my crappy audio card =
(built-in HP Kayak card)? Any ideas?
