Soundblaster live work ok, but they are a PITA to set up.  If you want to view 
TV then your pretty much have to use alsa to get the mixing right.  I 
downloaded gnome-alsamixer and that made things a little easier.
The setting using it are:
line : mute rec
capture: rec
turn up capture
turn up wave

You can also use alsamixer.
