 Could you check the current master with valgrind for memory-related errors
 and generate also the chanscan log, like:

 valgrind --track-origins=yes mythtv-setup -v
 general,channel,chanscan,record --logpath=./log

 }}}
 Sometimes valgrind is very useful for problems like this.
